JPG, PNG, WebPAbout the Image Text Overlay Tool
The Image Text Overlay tool runs entirely in your browser. Drop or select an image, type the text you want to add, and choose the font size, color, family, position (top, center, or bottom), and whether to draw a drop shadow behind the text for readability. Click Add Text and the text is rendered onto the canvas using ctx.fillText with the chosen settings, horizontally centered. The shadow (when enabled) is drawn first with a small offset so the foreground text stands out against any background. Download the result as a PNG. Nothing is uploaded — everything happens locally with JavaScript on your device.
How to use the tool
- Click the drop zone or drop an image file onto it.
- Type your Text and adjust the Font size, color, and family.
- Choose the Position (top, center, or bottom) and toggle the Shadow on or off.
- Click Add Text, then Download to save the PNG, or Clear to start over.
Frequently asked questions
How is the text positioned? The text is horizontally centered. Vertically, it sits near the top, in the center, or near the bottom depending on the Position setting, with a small margin so it does not touch the edges.
Does the shadow improve readability? Yes. The drop shadow is drawn in a contrasting tone with a small offset, so light text remains legible on bright backgrounds and dark text on dark ones.
Does this tool upload my images? No. All processing happens locally in your browser. Your image never leaves your device.
What is the output format? A PNG file. PNG preserves text sharpness and avoids compression artifacts.
